Can you try copying the file to a local drive and see if you can open it there? Well, problem solved. I think the data file was somehow corrupt, and I
(painfully) rebuilt it from a 1 month old working backup. Not sure how
one version of the program thinks the file is ok and another doesn't;
still, it works now.
