KMyMoney crashing on Neon 18.04

btrfs should not be the problem. It's just a filesystem.

What you can do is to test the current 'master' version in this respect using an appimage.

Download https://binary-factory.kde.org/job/KMyMoney_Nightly_Appimage_Build/lastSuccessfulBuild/artifact/kmymoney--ff0a4ce-x86_64.appimage in any directory of your user.

the execute the following commands as user in a terminal:

  cd into-the-directory-you-downloaded-the-appimage-file
  chmod +x kmymoney--ff0a4ce-x86_64.appimage
  ./kmymoney--ff0a4ce-x86_64.appimage

That will start KMyMoney. It is the current master version which is not released and might fail in other areas. But you should be able to check if the crash you encounter with 5.0.1 still happens or not. If not, we have fixed it in the meantime and it will be gone with 5.0.2. If it still occurs we need to know.
