changes not being saved.

I am running version 5.0.1 on kbuntu.

I am in the midst of converting a very large (28 years Quicken), 
transferring data one account at a time.

I just realized for the past couple of weeks, changes are not being 
saved. I have set auto-save for 10 minutes, occasionally do a file>save 
and always save when closing the file. Every time this week that I open 
the program I get an identical file (see the directory below). The 
current file 'joe.kmy' was copied from the .8~ backup which appeared to 
be the newest file that was different in a effort to see if that freed 
anything up. But you can see that after importing an account and closing 
it is the same as the .9~ backup. Permissions look to me like they are 
set correctly for saving the file.  (the gap from May 25 to June 5 was 
when I was on vacation and did no updating)

Any suggestions as to what is wrong?
