Not really, this is working. For some reason, KMyMoney cannot find the plugins or they are not activated. Did you install KMyMoney in your KDE system tree? Anything else might be a bit of trouble. On my openSUSE system I need to set 

  CMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX  to /usr    and
  KDE_INSTALL_PLUGINDIR to /usr/lib64/qt5/plugins

then do 

  make
  sudo make install

before I can use it. The locations may differ for your distro.

Before you tweak that, please make sure you see the XML storage plugin in Settings/Configure KMM/Plugins and it is activated.
