Ok, as promised I recompiled Kmymoney with the patch mentioned above. 

Now the real Payee is integrated into the memo field.  So it's one step
forward. 
After that I tried to extract the payee out of the memo using the corresponding
function. Unfortunately this does not seem to have any effect.
