Hi Chris,

I think this is the key information - that this is specific to the Brazilian
Portuguese translation.  I have a suspicion (no evidence yet) that the
translated string for the default value in that field is somehow corrupt, in a
way that the whole application suffers.  Now we just have to track down exactly
how this happens, and figure the best way to fix it.
