The number of decimal places is set in the Investment Details wizard
when you set up or edit a security.  Look at the fraction setting.
Whilst there, look also at the Price entry field, which allows one to
select to input either a total amount for a Transaction, or the price
per share.  You may find additional help in the handbook.

See if that helps, but let us know either way.  Incidentally, and in
case it may be relevant, what revision of KMM do you use, and what
distro/OS?
