Given that the error happened trying to copy the file from where KMM put it to
the external drive, I really believe that KMM is just a red herring and not the
real problem, since it actually created the backup file OK.  It might have been
interesting to try deleting the copy from the external drive before trying the
copy.  Also, you might have tried to get KMM to create the file directly on the
external drive, and copy it back to the local folder.  However, it seems like
one of those things that is just not worth tracking down at this point, if you
even could, given that you no longer get the error.
