It might be an idea to post also to the user list, to see what other 
users think.

My initial thought is that, while I can see that this might be of 
benefit to some users, it doesn't seem to tie in to the purpose of KMM, 
and a free-standing app. accessing the KMM file, might be best, rather 
than a plugin, and would certainly be easier to develop.

So far as plugin writing is concerned, look at 
http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials but beware of possible 
KDE3 versions.
