I can type é, á, and other accents, and the input is handled correctly and in
other transactions, the completer recognizes them correctly. (My KDE regional
settings are Spanish - Argentina, and the keyboard layout is LatinAmerican,
both of which handle these accents)

Perhaps this is a problem with the KDE settings for the keyboard layout?
