Hi,
This is to answer an old mail, but anyway.
Indeed I am busy with other things. I often think about Krita, I really
should have commented my code (maybe I will do it one of these days, I
think I can still understand it :)), so that other people can continue
to improve it.
Anyway, about what David was asking, if I understand correctly, is
already possible:
- The first screenshot you're giving shows a perspective transformation,
which can be achieved by holding the Super/Meta key modifier (maybe we
should mention this somewhere because I am sure users have no idea this
is possible)

- I you want to deform freely the selection using the 4 corners, you can
just use the warp tool and set points Density to 2 (control points are
then the corners).
