Hi everyone,
This bug (Brush preset editor bugs using stylus - Ubuntu 11.1) is a big headache for me currently. It makes every Calligra application unusable with a tablet. The cause is that we try to switch tools depending on input device, and with Ubuntu 11.10 and XInput2, our hacks to discover whether the user is using a mouse or a tablet stylus isn't working anymore.
There is also bug https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=285501 (Brush options change when switching from tablet to mouse or back).
We verified yesterday that it is indeed our Calligra code that causes the bug, but I couldn't fix it on Animtim's laptop.
Basically I see a couple of options:
1) Do nothing and let *buntu users down, and potentially every user of a distro that moves to XInput2;
2) Completely remove the tool-per-input-device hack
3) Try to only switch tools when we discover a switch in wacom id. That is, the mouse always activates the latest activated tablet stylus, which means no switch unless the user has two wacom pens (problem: I cannot test that, since Cyrille has the Krita Project Art Pen)
4) Try to fix the *buntu bug: problem, I cannot reproduce it since my *buntu machine is too slow. Plus, it's probably beyond me.
5) ...
