Gsoc 2011: PSD File import/export Support for Krita

Hey all,

OIIO has a student working on PSD importer and exporter,

perhaps the student for Krita could add oiio support for Krita/KDE and
then assist with the PSD for OIIO?

They you would get a bunch more formats for free, and they tend to be
very battle hardened and robust (Quite a few major film studios are
using it and probably most will be using it within a few years).

Hopefully eventually all opensource will move over to OIIO instead of
each of us implementing bindings to each new image library etc.  (I'd
planned to contact the project leads for Gimp, Krita, and Mypaint at
least, and us at Blender are looking at migrating to it as well - will
talk with Lary Gritz and Pippin perhaps there is a way to merge oiio
and babl even).

The library is new BSD so compatible with everything.

Also two brains on PSD is probably better than one.

They tend to add complete support for 3 to 6 formats a year, so you
get a lot of new format support for free into the future this way and
guaranteed bug fixers.
