I will add two others ideas :
- a convertion from rgb to watercolor could be nice, there are some 
explanations in "Computer-Generated watercolor" but there is some space for 
inventions

- in image processing, there is a lot of things to do in image quality 
enhencement filters, might be usefull for photograph, I have some nice 
articles about that
