The future of selections and masks in Krita

In my mind:
mask is used to hide a part of the layer when compositing with the layer below
selection is used for editing operation, either to copy/paste, or to protect 
some part of the image

Which means, we need both.

Now that said, wether selection are global or not, I don't care. It looks like 
both have advantage and drawback.
