It may, after all, be worth experimenting with. I'm not sure how fast we could 
make it -- we'd need to feed all bytes in all tainted layers through lcms or 
something like that to desaturate and color, before compositing. And what 
happens if the composite mode isn't simply Normal?

But I'm _not_ going to try this now. I'm first going to finish the smeary 
brush, the raw importer, the bird's eyeview widget, the history docker and 
fix some bugs :-).
