Yeah... That's one of the last bugs resulting from the new tile manager merge.
Basically, it's just completely commented out. Anyway, all imp/exp code
should go to the relevant color strategy so we can handle cmyk tiffs and
things like that. I would have worked on this but for this *&^% flu and the
stupid bug where the convolution painter overwrites the background layer's
memory on the second call...

I guess that means that both the old tiles are not discarded thorougly enough
_and_ the extent of layers never shrinks, just expands. The layer extent can
double through simply running a single filter... I'm more and more leaning
towards a "you can't see it, you can't mess with it" philosophy where no
filters mess with a layer's data outside the image boundaries.
