It looks quite good -- as if the code got quite a bit simpler, and if that 
also means it's more correct, that's fantastic. But I cannot get the patch to 
apply, and that's a bit of a bummer. Can you commit yourself? Otherwise I'll 
have a go at hand-applying, but I'd rather not.
