There's an almost rewritten KGet2 in work.

Multithreaded downloads are on our TODO list. But it's not implemented yet. KGet2 is plugin based. So you can easily add a new plugin. Is your downloader KIO based? It would be great if you can implement multithreaded downloads and mirror support.
