Moving the logic to use .directory files into kio?

In my understanding the only job of KIO is to provide access to a file
system, IOW it only works as "model" in terms of MVC. The view settings
belong to the "view" of MVC, the relevant code should be outside of KIO,
may be in an upper-level library.

Didn't libkonq deal with .directory for both Dolphin and Konqueror before
KDE SC 4.6? How about reviving this approach?
