We've been using KDE_VERSION_STRING as the Dolphin version for some time because this was more convenient than updating the version manually for every release (including merge conflicts when the version changed both in stable and master branches). Since the latest KDE_VERSION_STRING still is 4.14.3, I'm afraid we'll have to use our own version now. 4.15.0 for the final release looks like a logical evolution from the previous releases, so 4.14.98 should make sense for the release candidate.
