Confirmed. Springer webpage disallow Konqueror 4.9.2

They also have a script which will invite users/visitors to upgrade. If
you use IE7 or if you make Konqueror identify itself as IE7, then a
message with 4 links will appear at the top saying that you should upgrade
(and then there are 4 links for Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, IE8,
Safari). The message is:

"
We noticed you are using an older browser. Please note that some items may
not display properly. We suggest that you upgrade to a modern browser.
"

Oliver, no one has been working on the KHTML rendering engine for the last
3 years. No one. No work done anymore. Nothing. I'm not necessarly happy
with this but unless you can contribute a lot of
money|patches|code|energy, the fate of the KHTML rendering engine is
hopeless.

Some/many KDE distributions no longer embed Konqueror as the default web
browser. At least, this is the case for Kubuntu.

Oliver, which distribution are you using? and does it embed Konqueror as
its default web browser?

Konqueror with the KHTML rendering engine scores 85% (and probably less
now) in CSS 2.1 test suite, has a pretty weak support for CSS3, has a
rather weak support for HTML5 and has a weak support for new stuff.

I think it's time to switch to another browser now otherwise to another
rendering engine if you still want to use Konqueror as a web browser. No
one is going to be working on Konqueror's KHTML rendering engine in the
next few months and in the next few years.

regards, Gérard
