I've just done some research on Bug 68213 and I've found what's happening. The 
image height is becoming zero when float left/right is set. The bug was 
introduced in revision 1.218 of render_box.cpp, where '&& isInline()' was 
added to a line in calcHeight().

I took that out and the images stopped disappearing, but I don't know what 
else I've broken. Again, if someone who knows the code could look at it it 
would help.
