Getting started with sidebar plugin

I am currently a Java programmer wanting to get into kde development. I have a 
neat idea for a konq sidebar plug-in but keep hitting a brickwall before I 
get a chance to even write some code.

Would someone give me some hints on the quickest way to get started - up to 
having a compilable empty class that implements the sidebar interface?
