Ah, now I see. It's document.onkeydown which doesn't work in your version of KDE.
See bug number 42918 on bugs.kde.org.

document.onkeydown is fixed in KDE-3.1 (but document.onkeyup and 
document.onkeypress still don't work, see comment #3).

I suggest upgrading KDE to 3.1, or using onkeydown on specific objects instead
of document-wide, if that's possible.
