Dear Colin,
OK, now please locate where the kexidb_sqlite3driver.so has been installed.
Maybe in ~/kde/install/lib/kde4/?

If so, please type

% export KDEDIRS=~/kde/install

Then in the same shell, re-run

% kbuildsycoca4 --noincremental

Then run Kexi in the same shell of course.
