git integration for remote repository

Hi Sven,
4.7.1 (I originally thought it was 4.7.5) is what was lurking in a
RHEL 7 repository so I thought I'd try that AND an AppImage (5 dot
something).
My first impression of the AppImage was that it didn't play nice when
I finished a session which rather put me off. I'll have another go.
