Debugging a Project with with whitespaces in the project path

Hi,

I have several projects which paths have whitespaces in them, lets say 
"/path/to/whitespace project" When I try to debug them with gdb I always get 

could not start debugger: 
/path/to/whitespace: file or directory not found

Is there any way I can work around this? I thought the time when whitespace-
paths would throw programs off their game were long over...
