signal handlers view is always empty in kdevelop 3.5.3

hi,
im using ubuntu 8.10. i installed kdevelop using synaptic package manager. i
have two problems now:
1) during GUI editing, the signal handler view does not show anything at
all, regardless of which widget is selected.
2) debugging does not work when libtool is selected. However when i put gdb
as exe, it works.

i have done several reinstallations, but still no luck.
