snippets shortcut?

Hey all,
I would like to know if the only way to use snippets is by clicking on
them with the mouse or if I can type the name of the snippet+a
shortcut to make it appear like in eclipse, emacs and textmate.

As an example, in emacs (with rails-mode) I can type:

%%+tab+tab and it changes that into <%= %>

is there a way to do that with kdevelop?

(I saw the abbreviation functionality but it only works with html,
C/C++ and Pascal, and I use ruby :/)
