See my answer to amilcar. The hard requirement is gdb6.4, 6.6 is
recommended because it contains a couple of bugfixes that volodya sent
to the gdb people.
KDevelop3.4 really needs gdb6.4, thats the first release with a usable
MI-Interface which kdevelop3.4 uses to interact with gdb.

I'm sorry for that, but your gdb6.1 is really ancient.

Huh? No, the integrated debugger in kdevelop3.3 had more bugs than the
rest of kdevelop alltogether (well not really, but there were very
many).
If you do the step to gdb 6.6 _now_ you can stay with that for at least
a year (Kdevelop4 will be released earlier, but I don't see major
distro's switching to KDE4 that soon).
