thanks for the hint, it works so far - 
but i'm more or less sure that at home I have
        - KDevelop 3.x  (yum-updated within Fedora3)
        - KDE-3.x   (yum-updated within Fedora3)
        - full compiler output (sure, because I prefer this),
        - AND coloured messages - full text coloured and not icon only.

would be nice if we could keep this feature  :-)

(I will check my configuration at home.)

I assume you requested full compiler output. In this mode, you can't see 
coloured output. This is only in normal/short output mode possible.

you can switch the output in the contextmenu of the output window.
