yes and no. You can use any editor that supports the KTextEditor interface, 
for example KVim. But at the moment we have some problems with focus and 
accelerators due to the XEmbed stuff. If you want to give it a try, just 
download KVim and the KVim KTextEdit plugin and select it in the options 
menu.
