New to linux

In both cases, either a cut&paste of the error, or a better description
would do wonders. However, if you are using 'stock' debian/stable, you will
need to get a source for kde 3.1 on woody. Put the following into the
file /etc/apt/sources.list:
deb http://download.kde.org/stable/3.1.1/Debian stable main

Then run 'apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade'

This will download a crapload of packages (hopefully) and after much
disk activity, you'll have the latest stable KDE and 'apt-get install
gideon' should work. If not, paste the errors into an email and send
them off to me. This is quickly becoming (some would say is far beyond)
off-topic for this list, so send it to me directly.

If you aren't running woody, say unstable, then gideon should be there
and I dunno what's wrong. Back to the 'show me the error'.

Good luck, and I'm confident when I wake in the morning, it will be to
another cry for help. Don't worry about it, it's what I live for :-)
