images in new project not loading!

Hi,

I installed 2.1.1 this afternoon and am able to work with it
satisfactorily.. the only problem is that the said images are not loading
and i am getting two black areas in "Application Wizard" which i guess
showed the preview or something...

these were my attempts:

gdb dint give something useful(?)

or do i have to do something more to get [ i am not getting the
(gdb) prompt back... ] more messages.

i am using kde3.0.0, qt3.0.3 on rh7.2.
