downloading and compiling

[Pupeno]

I'm using Mandrake 7.2
I would like to know how do you download and compile kde on a package based
distribution.
Do you install the lates packages and the overwrites it with the latest
compiled from CVS ?
How do you keep dependecies working ?
Or you just doesn't do it ?
