Howto redirect output

Hi List,
This is may be off-topic..sorry.

I'm developing a programming aided tool that should have an ability to
compile a c++ program.
I need to redirect all the output, even the error messages , of gcc
(or any other command line program) to a output tab of my tool.
(So I think it's like the output tab of Kdevelop :-D _)
So, how can I do that?
