Hi together,
let me tell you a little story about KDevelop and SuSE 6.3:
I also tried to compile and let run KDevelop (1.x - in my case)
on a clean PC and had the same problems as there were posted from
several people.
Here what I found out:
1) configure-error 'cause missing giflib:
The ksupp-1.1.2-15.i386.rpm, which you will find on the SuSE 6.3
distribution ISN'T built with the "--with-libgif=yes"-configure-switch.
So no giflib will be installed with these binary ksupp.rpm's.
Solution:
- build ksupp by your own from the tarball.
Of course, you can use the source of the SuSE distribution
(zq)-section
You will find the tarball after installing it by "yast" in
/usr/src/packages/SOURCES
another way (maybe more comfortable)
- download and install my rpm-creation, you will find it on the
ftp-mirror of kdevelop:
ftp://ftp.e-technik.fh-muenchen.de/pub/unix/ide/KDevelop/binaries/SuSE-6.3/needed_packages
(this rpm is made for SuSE-6.3 and will install all supported
libs of the ksupp-package i.e. libgif, libgdbm, libjpeg)
2) glimpse not found on startup of KDevelop:
That's right... SuSE-6.3 doesn´t "support" this package anymore
(changing license right of glimpse)
see also: http://sdb.suse.de/sdb/de/html/why-not-63.html (sorry but I
found this article only in german)
On the SuSE-6.3 distribution you can still find an old "free" version of
glimpse.
It is on CD 1 in "<mountpoint>/unsorted/glimpse"
I putted this binary rpm also on the ftp-mirror of KDevelop:
ftp://ftp.e-technik.fh-muenchen.de/pub/unix/ide/KDevelop/binaries/SuSE-6.3/needed_packages
After that now I have finally a SuSE-6.3 system to continue developing
for kdevelop :-))
Hope I could clear some questions...
Ciao
Walter
