Project Creation Problems

I have done many various things in attempt to get KDevelop to work, i
used some RPM packages and eventually broke down and compiled KDevelop
myself i still get the same error when creating projects and it wont let
me compile programs, etc.  Even simple stuff, during the creation of the
project (after you hit the create button) it says Could Not Save
Document twice, then in the progress window it spits this back out at me

can not open file "entries" in your local app-data-dir:
  No such file or directory at
/usr/share/apps/kdevelop/tools/processes.pl line 18.
kann Datei nicht öffnen: No such file or directory at
/usr/share/apps/kdevelop/tools/processesend.pl line 9.

im on redhat6.0 with kde 1.1.2
any ideas on howto correct this?  After spending the last 2-3 hours
downloading and installing things i've become tired of messing with it
and would like a solution heh :)
