I've just down loaded Mandrake 7.0's gdb package and installed on my Mandrake
6.1

This is indeed a problem with the gdb package for 7.0. The problem is a small
change in the way "set prompt" works. I have no idea why this has been changed
for Mandrake 7.0. Looks a hell of a lot like a change just for the sake of
change to me :( kdbg fares much better, but has a few small problems, and ddd
doesn't seem to have a problem with this at all. I will have to fix this for
the final release, but will need some testers to test on Mandrake 7.0. Any
offers?

In the meantime, I suggest you get the Mandrake 6.1 gdb rpm package and install
that on you Mandrake 7.0. It'll probably be easier than recompiling gdb. Let us
know if this solution is still a problem.
