Strange configure error with kdevelop project

I have seen exactly the problem described. Just like Frank I have discovered it
is often quickest to simply hack the wizard created project file. Usually, no
matter how severe kdevelop makes the error sound, it will happily go on and
build / run the project completely normally.

The problem is often finding which bit in the project file needs commenting
out !
