Filesystem blocksize

Howdy all:)

Could anyone tell me how to find out how big the block size
for a filesystem is?  Preferably a generic way, that can be
read for any disk format.

I don't believe KFile does this.

I'm a bit of a UNIX newbie.

Also, is it safe to assume that the blocksize will be a multiple
of 1024 bytes?
