  And FWIW, the gcc source tree has far less than that default value of 100000 files (according to the parser's "Stop" menu entry). Even if there's a link between the number of files and the cost of dir watching, that parameter is in an even more hidden and unexpectable location than a checkbox in the Settings/Project config pane.
