Frankly, that's all in the eye of the beholder, and I have no issues with or fear of blank, *white* pages ;)
It's very rare in fact that I don't have a single document open though that's also an acquired "taste" because in KDevelop 4.7 the entries in that session list could for some reason receive clicks when KDevelop was not the active/front/key application. And that only happened when my system was already under such a load that starting another KDevelop session was the last thing I'd want to do ...
