I tried KViewStateMaintainer briefly, but it didn't seem to trigger.  I didn't investigate too deeply as api.kde.org doesn't list it for KDE 4.5, so until we bump to 4.6 it's not an option.  I did change KViewStateMaintainer to use a default constructor in order to play nice with KViewStateMaintainer should we use it in the future.
