I've also fixed the white-screen-of-death for those that don't have the plasma 
component.

What still needs to be done is a proper check for the kdeclarative.h header 
(and lib?) together with a proper modularization that enables us to only 
compile this (plugin then?) when KDE 4.8+ is found.
