default size for item repositories - can it be decreased?

Hey all,

I wonder whether we could not maybe decrease the default size for (some?) of 
our item repositories.

Attached you find a massif file (duchainify) that shows that most of the memory 
is reserved for some repo and that neither of them changes most of the time... 
I wonder if we could set the default to 1MiB instead of currently 2 MiB. 
Looking at the peak you'll see that there are currently 21 Item repositories 
of 2MiB each lurking around...
