UI polishing: config dialogs

These UI polishing changes look like mainly simple string changes. I can
throw them in if there are no objections, but I need to know...
We aren't in any preventative freeze state are we?
Is there some process that notifies the translators of changes, or do they
just monitor the diffs? .desktop files being what they are, I thought I
check.
