I don't remember breaking static members option -- perhaps that just has no 
effect in MI. I'll take a look. As for default radix -- I'll need to think if 
removing or reviving is a better idea.

I'm swamped till Friday, but if you see no commits from me by next Monday, 
please shout ;-)
