KDevelop svn branches status

What is the preferred directions of merges? First fix a problem on 3.5 branch, 
then merge to KDevelop 3.4 branch, or vise versa?

It's it preferred to merge changes immediately, or postpone them for later 
(say, after KDE 3.5 release)?
